Why should we embrace change?

Change is inevitably a scary thing, and as human beings we usually don't embrace it because it is uncomfortable and we do not always know what it will bring. But I want to say that if we do not change and actively make a decision to do something different every single day, we really cannot expect life to be any better for us than what exists right now.

I don’t think I have ever had a problem with change. In fact I have always been willing to try and do different things. My biggest challenge I know is just getting started and that I can be a bit of a procrastinator at times...but who isn't, right?

I made up my mind in 2016! I wanted to see specific changes in my business so decided to hired a coach. Great decision! I started off 2017 with a bang!  …and also followed up by utilizing the services of another coach! ( easily one of the best decisions I made!) I was working faithfully getting workshops done and increasing the sales and visibility of my store. Things were going pretty well but I was still overwhelmed and unhappy with many things.  This type of change was stressful because I was doing more physically. I was getting more stuff done, running from meeting to meeting, workshops to workshops, and from one market and trade show to another. I began to feel burnt out….tired and fatigued so when I got the usual break from my lecturing at the end of May, I took a pause….well more like put my business on autopilot. I had a fantastic summer, relaxing with friends and family. My business continued to run as normal but I was not 'half killing' myself like I did in the first four months of the year. I really took time for me….June…quickly turned into July and then August. I was shocked that I took all that time off and the world didn’t cave in. I have not taken such a long break in many many years….and it was wonderful !!! – Welcome CHANGE # 1!

LESSON LEARNED – Stop being in a hurry to do everything RIGHT NOW – Make time to stop and smell the roses.

As each change in my life occurred this year, I grew and learned more about myself.  I started September with a bang again, making plans for all that I wanted to for the rest of the year both personally and professionally.  The three month break I took was a total eye opener. I even took time to take care of my spiritual life and what a transformation I experienced!  If you are still struggling for control of every little detail in your life then you will be unhappy…It is important to get your mindset clear…be willing to surrender. Welcome CHANGE # 2!

LESSON LEARNED – Life is a balance between what we can control and what we cannot. I am learning to live between effort and surrender – Danielle Orner

Now, surrender is not giving up or putting aside your responsibilities; but the practice has brought such clarity, power and purpose in my life. What's even greater, is that the same things that I was once fighting for are now being attracted into my life because I choose to let go of it.

So welcome change! It brings new experiences to your life and also new challenges. But this is what life is all about. Embrace it and don’t be afraid.
